PBGS Scholarship



This fund was established honoring the 75th anniversary of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the parent society of the Permian Basin Geophysical Society. This fund provides college scholarships to students pursuing a degree in the field of geophysics or the other geosciences with preference given to students either from the Permian Basin or attending college in the Permian Basin.

Dawson Geophysical Scholarship


This fund was established on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Dawson Geophysical Company in honor of the company and its founder, L. Decker Dawson. This fund provides college scholarships to area high school students pursuing a degree in the study of geophysics. PBGS stewards this scholarship.

SEG Scholarship


In addition to our PBGS scholarships, the PBGS contributes to the SEG scholarship fund each year in the name and honor of L. Decker Dawson and C. Newton Page. These are awarded thru the SEG and applications for SEG scholarships are made thru the SEG Student and Early Career Department (SEG Foundation).
